Our Story

Bowda started with a different idea of what work could look like.

Bowda Creative Co. was founded in 2013 with a simple belief: strong creative work and real life should be able to coexist.

What began as a one-woman social media management business has grown into a collaborative, high-touch agency supporting businesses, brands, and nonprofits across Canada. Built intentionally around flexibility, trust, and thoughtful communication, Bowda was designed differently from the start.

Today, our team includes strategists, designers, writers, and creative specialists working together to create meaningful, strategy-led work that feels human, collaborative, and grounded in real connection.

The goal was never to become the biggest agency. It was always to build a thoughtful one that creates strong work while treating people like people.

meet our founder

Hello, I’m Darcy!

I’m a wife, mom of two boys, veteran, author, and of course founder and owner of this agency for thirteen years and counting. I've been told that's a lot of hats, and it is, which is exactly why I care about marketing people can actually keep up with.

I built Bowda while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, including years as a communications advisor with the Royal Canadian Navy, where I supported digital communications and advised senior leadership on social media. Doing both at once taught me the thing I still believe most: marketing gets a whole lot easier when you're clear on what you're trying to say.

I lead every project and set the strategy, then a small, senior team of strategists, designers, and writers brings it to life. It's all women, plus one husband. I'm a writer first, a marketer second, and a person who will absolutely have an opinion about your tagline.

My belief is simple: good marketing should feel intentional, human, and aligned with the people behind the brand.

Human-first, always.

We believe great work starts by meeting people where they’re at.

Bowda was intentionally built around the understanding that businesses are run by real people balancing real life behind the scenes. Our team includes parents, neurodivergent creatives, people living in rural communities, and individuals navigating different seasons of life and health realities. That perspective shapes how we work.

We care deeply about creating an environment that supports thoughtful collaboration, sustainable creativity, and realistic expectations - both internally and with our clients.

Because while we take our work seriously, we also understand that people are human first and we believe the best partnerships are built that way too.

Values matter here.

The way we work is shaped by what we value. From the clients we support to the team we've built, we believe in creating a business that is thoughtful, inclusive, human-centred, and committed to making a positive impact.

Good people make great work.

Bowda has never been about building the biggest agency. It's about building a community of talented people who create meaningful work while having the flexibility to live meaningful lives.

If you're a strategist, designer, writer, marketer, developer, or creative specialist who believes strong work and human realities can coexist, we'd love to connect.

our difference

Thoughtful strategy. Genuine collaboration. Marketing built to last.

We take a calm, intentional approach to creative work -combining strategy, design, content, and communication support in a way that is collaborative, sustainable, and aligned with your long-term goals.

our clients

Businesses, brands,
and nonprofits doing meaningful work.

From solo founders to national nonprofits and growing businesses, we partner with clients across Canada who care deeply about what they do and want their marketing to reflect that clearly. Whether you need strategic direction, creative support, or ongoing marketing guidance, our work is rooted in thoughtful collaboration and strong communication.

The digital world moves quickly. Trends change constantly, platforms evolve overnight, and marketing can easily start to feel noisy or disconnected. But at the end of the day, people still want the same things: clarity, trust, genuine connection, and communication that feels human. That’s the kind of work we care about creating — thoughtful strategy, clear messaging, and creative that helps brands connect in a way that feels intentional, meaningful, and built around real people, not just algorithms.
